THE ALBAN IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM DIRECTORS FOR THE 2013 SCHEDULE

 

The Alban Arts Center is now accepting applications for directors for the 2013 schedule.  We are looking are planning on producing 6 shows next year and are looking for talented creative directors.  We are asking that directors submit applications for shows that they would like to direct, then the play committee of the Alban Arts Collective will review the applications and interview the directors.  Show submissions must meet the requirements of the 2013 schedule.  The Alban Arts Center is interested in producing one of each of the following next year, a Classic, Comedy, Drama, A play written within the last 10 years, A large show with children, A winter season show to tie in with St. Albans Christmas activities preferably with some roles for children.  The Arts Collective will be choosing the summer show and the Christmas show but the remaining four productions will all be submitted by directors and then selected by the Play Committee.  The Alban Arts Center encourages collaboration with other artists and directors are encouraged to find people to help with the other duties of producing a live production, ie Stage Manager, Technical Director, Costumer, etc.  Finding people for these jobs is not required but highly encouraged as a way to give director's the maximum amount of creative control of their production.  Is there a show that you have been dying to direct?  Do you want to direct a show that most theaters won't take a chance on?  Are you just looking to direct a show in a new space with new people?  Then get your application into to Alban Arts Center ASAP we are eagerly awaiting your application!

West Virginia’s premier improv comedy troupe, the No Pants Players, will perform an all-ages show at the Alban Arts and Conference Center (65 Olde Main Street, St. Albans, WV 25177) Saturday, March 9th at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under. Adam Bryan will not only open the doors of the Alban to the troupe, but also play host for the evening.

The Alban Arts Center is pleased to present the most performed of Shakespeare’s history plays Richard the Third. You will love to hate the charming, nefarious Richard as he schemes his way to the throne of England.

Performance dates are February 22, 23, 24 and March 1, 2, 3. Friday and Saturday performances at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm

About Us

The Alban was built in 1938 as a Movie House.  It has since been renovated and is now called the Alban Arts and Conference Center.  The Alban now seats 206 in its fixed theatre seats and can hold up to 250 people.

The Alban has two conference rooms and a full kitchen in addition to the main theater space.  The Alban houses community theatre productions, Arts Instruction, an Art Gallery, a full size movie screen and a stocked concession stand.

The Alban can be rented for a variety of events including but not limited to parties, conferences, concerts, weddings, pageants and much more.
